Okay so were back with part two of my Thunderwolf Cavalry of Khorne conversion. So now I had a great foundation to work from, and just need to add some arms and a head. I knew I wanted the model to be dynamic- either holding his weapon over his head, or swinging it to attack. Plus for the first model I wanted him armed with a Thunder Hammer / Storm Shield, (Saga of the Bear anyone?) so I had a little bit more converting to do.
If you have any questions about a particular fig please email me and I will be glad to help you as best I can.
Just mouse-over any image and use the right and left buttons to scroll though the gallery.

Just a reminder our Miniature Market will be next Saturday Sept. 4th at 11am. It also happens to be the same day the new Warhammer Fantasy 8th Edition Box Sets go on sale. So there is two great reasons to come up (well three if you count swapping out your High Elves or Skaven models for even more swag).
Either way it should be fun. If you missed the last one you may want to try to stop by this time. A large number of participants ended the day with hundreds in store credit, and there were many a mad deals to be had!

The appointed time has come, and we have a new winner for the Spikey Bits monthly give-away! Since I have a few more followers now, I had to change up how I selected a winner this time. What I ended up doing was select a finalist at random from each page of followers, and then selected an overall winner from that group of finalists.
This is a quick and easy method I use for the white warpaint on my orky vehicles. The base coat is a foundation color, which is great for going on over the blue paint of the hulls. Now you don't have to get all fancy and neat and stuff, cause it's the grots that are doing the painting after all. :-)
I had been thinking about making some "Chaotic" Thunderwolf Calvary models for awhile now. When I saw the preview models for the Bloodcrushers a few weeks ago, I knew I'd be adding some "space wolf lords" to my Chaos army.
So I just got some of the new Bloodcrushers and started converting them up. Here is the work in progress so far.

I saw these guys the other day, along with the Ku'Gath model I posted earlier, and was really really impressed with them. The are brought to us by the same Nuglely genius; isotope99. This is his walk through of how to make plastic plague bearers (which if you are chaotic at heart like me, this is just what the doctor ordered).
Hey guys, this is a joint article Big Red and I did over at BoLS. The full video of the whole Forge World preview display case is at the bottom. Be sure to check it out. Enjoy- MBG

We've all issues with primer- whether it was too much, too little, flakes, or fuzzy paint it's one of the most frustrating parts of the hobby. Mastering this basic technique is easy however- as the most common solution is to not prime your minis in high humidity.
Also keep in mind the distance between the spray nozzle and your miniatures. Some primer such as the Army Painter Sprays require a distance of six to eight inches to your models, while Citadel sprays require longer distances.

Hey everyone. I just posted up some video of the event over at YouTube. Check out my channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/rbaer0002, I'll be posting up coverage all day.
There can be only one! This year in North America Games Day will be held in Baltimore, MD. Spikey Bits and friends will be there checking out the festivities, and hanging with Jawaballs, Brass Scorpion, and more.

I used to really enjoy an old article in Inquest Magazine (published for Magic the Gathering) called Dead Man's Hand. You would only have one turn left and you had to kill your opponent that turn, or you lose. They showed you your hand and the battlefield, and you had to come up with the combo that would win.
It was pretty cool, and got me thinking- hey why not do that with 40k? So here is the first, of hopefully many, Your Move articles.

Here is the list (more or less I think I edited it some towards the end) I took at War Games Con. It served me well! I had 4 wins and going into day 2 I was on Table 11. That would have probably gone well for me, if I had shown up to play that is.
No big deal there is always next time, and maybe less to drink. :-)

We're starting a 40k Campaign this Wednesday at FTW Games, and I thought it would be awesome to revisit the old Vogen system. I lucked out and still had the old PDFs of the campaign. So I converted them over to the 5th edition rules set for everyone to use!
This awesome conversion is from isotope99 over on the BoLS Lounge. I was REALLY impressed with it so I thought I'd share.
Another question I get a lot is how do I take my pictures? Well it's actually pretty easy. In the past I used a light box, but found that a lot of times the models I would need pictures of ended up being too big for the box itself. So I ended up reversing the script a bit, and made the light work for me.
Here is an awesome preview of the New Space Marine Video Game from THQ, courtesy of Bell of Lost Souls.
Recently I had a few requests for some articles that focused more on some of the basic hobby techniques I use, and I thought this was a great idea. I would always get fired up myself when I was reading a painting magazine and they would just skim over a crucial step for something I wanted to try. So I figure this is a great reason to start a new series of articles called Hobby Basics.
We're getting back into the swing of things around here, and with the new Daemon releases this week I felt it was time to once again present the Spikey Bits Monthly Give-Away.
On August 25th I will select another blog follower at random to win this box of brand new Bloodcrushers of Khorne. Obviously friends and family of myself are excluded from winning, sorry getting close to me has drawbacks lol.
