Welcome to Armies on Parade, where I display (in hopefully good detail) some great looking armies from major tournaments all across the United States.

This is a bit of guest post by Duke, of Dukes Inferno about the Feast of Blade Tournament coming up in about a month.  I plan on attending, and honestly it sounds like a pretty good time!

There is a neat little community out there that came up with a true skirmish version of 40k. It's called "Death Squads" and it's pretty cool.

Warkitteh- LolCats Meets 40k

Today starts a new recurring segment called Warkitteh, which is basically pics of my cats being stupid.  I happen to have several cats, and they all seem to dig my toy soldiers. By dig I mean do dumb things around them, and that my friends is funny.

Here is a guest "Guide" by Scottywon82.  According to him it's not really complicated enough to warrant the name, but I still like it. You can find Scottywon82 lurking about over on DakkaDakka most of the time, or harassing us at FTW Games :-)

For those of you not familiar with it there is an old board game out there, that was just re done in fact, that emulates a first person shooter.

It pretty much combines the play of 40k with the ridiculousness of Duke Nukem, and makes for a lot of fun. The game is called FRAG! and it's a AWESOME.

A few years ago I wanted to convert up an Ironclad model before it was released. I had a few ideas but after seeing some of the stuff my buddy Plunkett was doing with his stuff, I decided to let him have a go at it.

Welcome to a another guest post by Togashi Shinkaze. You can catch him lurking about over at Laughter of the Thirsting Gods talking about "metas" and "fun 40k". Worth a read!

This one's about his 'Ard Boyz Semis victory over the weekend, and since I choked round one, well I gotta get you coverage somehow!

Check out these gorgeous WIP shots of Jkin's Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons. It's pretty amazing what can be done now with all the plastic kits out there!

I think his conversions really bring home the look and Egyptian feel to the figures that the books convey.

I got a ton of response lately about the Looted Guard. Everyone seems to want to know how I did the chipped paint.

Guess I've procrastinated long enough right? Time to get an article together on it.

So without any further fuss, here's your how to article on the Chipped Paint Effect!

So 'Ard Boyz Semis happened over the weekend, and the field of armies played (at least at the stores I heard of) seemed to be slightly narrower. Virginia saw mostly Power Armor, with an emphasis on Grey Knights and Blood Angels over Space Wolves.

Hey guys! Instead of writing actual content that would be fun and useful to the majority of readers I just wanted to get on here and write a bit of satire about some things swirling around the interwebs yesterday.

Well it was alot of fun hanging out and talking smack on thursday night. At this point I have seen MBG wax Jawaballs in a really lop sided match and now I am going to try to get him to play me.

He drunkenly agrees and now I have a chance to totally dominate the Grot Death Cult Assassin army that Master Shake has let him borrow.

Spikey Bits Blog

Spikey Bits is a blog about the hobby of Warhammer 40k and Fantasy Battles, both tabletop wargames. I try to cover all of the aspects of that hobby from converting and painting models to actually playing the game.

By nature I am a competitive tournament player, but my true passion is converting and painting. I will spend more time making a figure than actually playing with it, lol.

The aim of this blog it to keep me motivated to produce new work, and to share my experiences along the way. I very much value all feedback about my work, and will answer any questions about it.

Feel free to send me an email or post a comment about anything on here.

However please no cursing, first offenses will be edited, second offense results in a ban. You can disagree with me of course, just don't curse!

Thanks for reading, and happy gaming. -MBG
